WELCOME

Mary Wollstonecraft claimed human rights for all. The Wollstonecraft Society is a registered charity carrying her legacy of human rights, equality and justice into young people’s lives.

During her own short tumultuous life, Mary Wollstonecraft overcame limited education and a background of domestic violence to become an educational and political pioneer, and one of the greatest thinkers of the eighteenth century.

"I am thrilled by the Wollstonecraft Society’s efforts to celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest thinkers and champions of justice the world has seen." - Nobel Laureate and Patron of the Wollstonecraft Society, Professor Amartya Sen

WHAT WE DO

The Wollstonecraft Society aims to carry Mary Wollstonecraft’s legacy of human rights and equality into the lives of people who have never heard of this pioneer of civil liberties. The goals of the charity are to increase awareness of her life and work, and inspire community engagement. We will deliver these goals via:

  • Educational materials, free for schools, readily accessible and fully integrated into KS1 and KS2 requirements. Necessarily these will evolve so that they meet new OFSTED requirements.

  • Speaking events in communities and schools, conveying the excitement of her extraordinary life story and huge achievements.
